How Many Boxes Fit on a 48 × 40 Pallet?
A pallet footprint is simple; the carton arrangement is where quick division often fails.
Start with cases per layer
Calculate both unrotated and 90-degree orientations. A mixed row or strip can sometimes use the remaining deck space better than one uniform direction.

TI = best feasible carton count on one 48 × 40 in layer
Then apply stack height
FORMULA
HI = floor((Max loaded height − pallet height) ÷ carton height)
- •Do not count partial layers.
- •Check total weight after height.
- •Validate carton compression and stability.
- •Avoid unapproved overhang.
