How to Calculate Pallet Weight
Add the product, pallet, and load-securing materials, not just the carton count multiplied by case weight.
Pallet weight formula
For multiple identical pallets, calculate one complete loaded pallet and multiply. For mixed pallets, total each carton line separately before adding tare.
FORMULA
Loaded pallet weight = (Carton weight × Carton quantity) + Pallet tare + Packing materials
Worked example
| Component | Calculation | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Product cartons | 60 × 18 lb | 1,080 lb |
| Empty pallet | 1 × 45 lb | 45 lb |
| Wrap and boards | Allowance | 8 lb |
| Loaded pallet | Total | 1,133 lb |
Check more than total weight
- •Confirm rack and equipment capacity.
- •Check whether weight is evenly distributed.
- •Include pallet height in the loaded dimensions.
- •Use a verified scale for shipping documents when required.
